Tirana Eco-Clubs Competition

On 24th May 2023, were gathered on the same time, on the same day pupils from 12 Tirana schools (including six Elementary Schools and six Public High Schools). Pupils of these schools have been part of the 12 competitions that were organised. The themes of the Tirana Eco-Clubs Competition were such as: management of urban waste, hazardous waste and the 5 R's, as well as a demonstration of students' works with recyclable materials. Event for School Eco-Clubs: "Building Eco-Community in Yerevan"

Event for School Eco-Clubs: "Building Eco-Community in Yerevan" combined a workshop and an exhibition by Yerevan schools eco-clubs, providing a good opportunity for the exchange of experiences and presentation of best practices among the eco-clubs. Additionally, newly selected schools which recently have been awarded small grants presented their projects. Participants discussed important environmental reforms inspired and supported by the European Union, including the prevention and proper management of waste, especially household hazardous waste.
Representatives of selected functioning Eco-Clubs had short presentations of the best practices and different approaches to environmental and waste management education and awareness.
Mr Robert Girejko, Team Leader of "Capital Cities Collaborating on Common Challenges in Hazardous Waste Management - Yerevan, Warsaw, Tirana" presented the role of Eco-clubs in forming a local innovative eco-community, the principles of waste prevention and management expressed by the 5R concept (Refuse, Reuse, Recycle, Recover, Residual Waste Management), and a short overview of developments and challenges in Europe in relation to waste prevention and management and the role of education and inter-generational collaboration for a greener future.

AI detected asbestos-covered roofs remaining in Warsaw

Artificial Intelligence, basing on advanced algorhythms, helped Warsaw in preparing an up-to-date inventory of buildings covered with roofs that contain cement-asbestos materials. According to the results, asbestos roofings that remain within the City could cover a total area of almost 5 ha.
