School competition finals in Warsaw

As a part of activities addressed to schools and carried out under the project "Capital Cities Collaborating on Common Challenges in Hazardous Waste Managment - Yerevan, Warsaw, Tirana", during the spring semester 2023 Warsaw Municipality carried out a second edition of a school competition called Warsaw Ecoleague, this year with a motto "Hazardous waste - let's reduce the danger!", reflecting the thematic scope of the competition.
On 22 June 2023 the results of the competition will be announced during a final event hosted by the Warsaw Centre for Educational and Social Innovation and Training. More than a hundred of pupils from primary and secondary schools took part in the competition, in 4 age categories:
  • grades 1st to 3rd,
  • grades 4th to 6th,
  • grades 7th to 8th,
  • secondary schools.
  • The competition aimed to raise the awareness of young Varsovians about household hazardous waste, especially when it comes to the negative impact associated with inappropriate management of that kind of waste. By preparing their competition entries, pupils got involved in actions to prevent the threats posed by household hazardous waste.
For the entries participants prepared, among other things, presentations, photo essays, mock-ups and animations in which they presented the specific risks associated with hazardous waste, but also their own ideas on how to counteract them. Many of the works were also an appeal to residents to dispose the hazardous waste properly.
