On May 24, The "Environmental Masquerade" event organized by the EU-funded project "Capital Cities Collaborating on Common Challenges in Hazardous Waste Management Yerevan, Warsaw, Tirana" took place in the Park of Lovers. The project is co-financed by the European Union and the municipalities of the mentioned capitals.
The main objective of the project is to strengthen urban hazardous waste management through cooperation between Yerevan, Warsaw and Tirana, promoting knowledge sharing between partners, to enlarge participation of the citizens and comprehensive integration of existing best practices in hazardous waste management. The participants of the " Environmental Masquerade" event were the Eco-Clubs of the beneficiary schools and culture centres that received sub-grants from the Project, students of schools of Yerevan and neighbouring cities, and park visitors. The Park of Lovers became a unique platform combining painting, pottery, theatre and musical performances related to environmentally responsible behaviours.
During the event, Eco-Clubs and other interested participants organised discussions on the principles of waste prevention and management expressed by the 5R (refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, residual waste management) concept, as well as the role of education and cooperation between generations on the topics of a greener future.
At the end of the event, the participants who were recognized as the best in the pre-announced essay and play competition were awarded small prizes within the framework of the event under the title "Environmental Masquerade".
